At 18 years old, designer Noelle Vazzano moved from Arizona to Los Angeles with a dream of making a name in fashion. Sixteen moths later, Noelle graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and began her career by selling handmade items to a few local boutiques. With the help of her father and mother cutting and sewing, Noelle was able to sell to 15 Los Angeles boutiques over the next 3 months. Not content to be a local phenomenon, Noelle found a Los Angeles showroom and a financial partner. Within six months, noelle sold to over 200 boutiques across the nation and to select Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Bloomingdale department stores.
She was excited about the success but with age her style was changing and the union between business partners wasn’t strong. She closed noelle couture to start a new contemporary sportswear brand called emilynoelle with a girlfriend and once roommate Emily Kersman. Investing their own money and still young in the business, launching was more difficult than Noelle imagined. They slowly started getting recognition with a peacock feather belt that was an accessory to the line. Emilynoelle gained a LA showroom and was soon in about 100 nationwide boutiques. The line was also named by the LA Times one of the three up and coming Los Angeles based collections by a collaboration, with mike and chris, and jak and rae. Noelle at 23, decided it was important to learn more about the business side of the industry and left emilynoelle to work for a manufacturing company, learning important steps in all aspects of design. Making many new connections and with her new crucial knowledge she started freelance designing graphics and silhouettes for clients. New step in the right direction, noelle auditioned for project runway, after being one of the 25 selected from LA to move to round two, she disappointedly wasn’t chosen for the final 15. With a spirit that never gives up, at 24, Noelle moved to New York to gain east coast fashion experience and once again leave a lasting mark in fashion, but this time in the swimwear industry.
After attending the swim show in Miami 2009, noelle saw a gap that needed to be filled. “I wanted to create a line that anyone anywhere can buy, but unique enough to make my customer stand out in a crowd. She is a woman who loves fashion and isn’t afraid to try something new but doesn’t necessarily follow every trend. “
Noelle is a New York City manufactured collection that sets itself apart from other brands by using original prints from the 60s 70s and 80s. The silhouettes of the swimwear are modern with sexy cutouts and unique shapes, but stays true to flattering a women's body in all sizes. The 2011 collection offers a wide variety of mix and match separates and eye catching one pieces in beautiful Italian nylon lycra. noelle features breezy cover ups that double as day dresses in certified organic bamboo knits and cotton gauze, to perfectly complete the collection. Sizes run xs-l and will retail from $50-200.
The 2011 collection will make its first debut at the Miami swim trade show in July, and has been seen in Complex and US weekly publications.
